Myrtle Beach retailers see sales surge ahead of Trump rally

Local business owners in the Myrtle Beach area report a significant surge in sales ahead of President Donald Trump’s scheduled rally at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The event is intended to support Republican Senator Darline Graham in a GOP runoff for the seat previously held by her late brother, Lindsey Graham.

Richard Kligman, owner of the Trump Superstore and Klig’s Kites in North Myrtle Beach, noted a 20 to 30 percent increase in sales following the announcement of the visit. Kligman stated that customers are seeking various items to wear to the rally, including flags, shirts, and hats. He noted that demand has been particularly high for ‘Trump 2028’ merchandise, despite the constitutional implications regarding third terms.

Kligman emphasized that while the business sells political merchandise, the primary motivation is responding to consumer demand rather than making a specific political statement. He described the influx of customers as a boost to the local economy during a period late in the tourism season.
