Myrtos-Bramiana water pipeline project remains stalled

PASOK Member of Parliament Katerina Spyridaki has submitted a new parliamentary inquiry regarding the stalled Myrtos-Bramiana water pipeline project. The project, intended to transport water from the Myrtos intake to reinforce the Bramiana reservoir, is considered vital for the water security and agricultural productivity of the Ierapetra region.

Despite government assurances made nearly a year ago that contractor payment issues were being resolved, the project remains frozen. The delay impacts over 35,000 acres of irrigated land in one of Greece's most significant agricultural hubs. The inquiry, co-signed by MPs Tasos Nikolaidis and Manolis Chnaris, seeks answers from the Ministers of National Economy and Finance, Rural Development and Food, and Infrastructure and Transport regarding when the contractor will be paid and when construction will fully resume.
