Mysten Labs and Google Cloud partner on AI agent verification layer

Mysten Labs, the developer of the Sui blockchain, has announced the co-development of Verifiable Agent Arbiter (VAA) with Google Cloud. VAA is designed as an evidence layer for AI agents, allowing enterprises to prove that their agents acted within authorized parameters during transactions, negotiations, or legal decisions.

To balance privacy and transparency, VAA keeps detailed telemetry—such as prompts, model outputs, and tool calls—private within customer-controlled Google Cloud Storage. It then anchors cryptographic proofs of these records to the Walrus data platform and coordinates them on the Sui blockchain. This structure enables third parties, such as auditors and regulators, to independently verify agent actions without accessing sensitive internal data.

The system aims to address challenges in cross-company AI interactions, particularly those using the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol. In the event of a dispute or security incident, VAA allows parties to reconstruct and replay workflows to identify exactly where a failure or policy violation occurred. This capability is intended to help companies comply with emerging regulations, such as the EU AI Act, which includes strict requirements for logging and accountability.
