Mystik Bayou favored in Street Sense Stakes
Mystik Bayou, a half-brother to 2024 Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan, is the 9-5 morning-line favorite for the Grade 3 Street Sense Stakes at Churchill Downs. Trained by Kenny McPeek and owned by 4 G Racing, Lance Gasaway, and Daniel Hamby III, the colt enters the race following an impressive maiden victory at Belmont Park on October 3.
Mystik Bayou holds a unique distinction as the only living offspring of Louisiana Derby winner Wells Bayou. The horse also shares a connection to the late jockey Robby Albarado, who worked as an exercise rider for McPeek and regularly galloped Mystik Bayou prior to Albarado's death in August.
The eight-horse field includes TDN Rising Star Card Man, making his two-turn debut, and the undefeated Blessed Flyer. The Street Sense is a key component of the Road to the Kentucky Derby, with the top five finishers earning qualifying points for the May 1 Kentucky Derby.
