Mysuru Dasara concludes with historic Jamboo Savari procession
The world-renowned Mysuru Dasara festival concluded with the historic Jamboo Savari procession. For the first time in 18 years, the elephant Captain Prashanth carried the 750 kg golden ambari, housing the deity Goddess Chamundeshwari, marking him as the 13th elephant to perform this role in the festival's history.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar performed the ceremonial flower offering at the palace premises. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mysore royal family representative Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, and Chief Ministers from neighboring states Kerala and Telangana.
The 5.5-kilometer procession, which began at the palace's Balarama Dwar and ended at Bannimantap, featured 53 tableaux representing various government departments, the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Millions of spectators gathered along the route to witness the cultural display.
