Ministry of Tribal Affairs to host national conclave in Mysuru

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is organizing a three-day National Conclave on Tribal Languages and Museums in Mysuru, Karnataka, from August 24 to 26. The event aims to establish a national roadmap for the documentation, preservation, and revitalization of tribal languages, many of which are unwritten or no longer being passed to younger generations.

In addition to linguistic preservation, the conclave will focus on strengthening Tribal Museums and Tribal Freedom Fighter Museums (TFFMs) across India. This initiative follows a 2016 vision by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to recognize the contributions of tribal communities to India’s freedom struggle. To date, the Ministry has sanctioned 11 Tribal Freedom Fighter Museums across 10 states, with four already inaugurated.

The conclave is part of the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ roadmap, which emphasizes reviving traditional knowledge systems and ensuring inclusive national development. The event will be inaugurated by Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durgadas Uikey and will include participation from Karnataka Tribal Welfare Minister T. Raghuram and other officials.
