Mytilene to auction redevelopment project for Tsamakia Grove

The Municipality of Mytilene is set to auction a redevelopment project for the Tsamakia Grove, following a unanimous decision by the Municipal Committee. The initiative is part of the city’s Sustainable Urban Development Plan and is funded by the 2021-2027 ESPA program of the North Aegean Region.

The project aims to balance recreational and athletic use with the protection of the forest ecosystem. Key works include forest maintenance, such as pruning and removing dead or diseased trees, and planting new trees to renew the forest's potential and enhance fire protection.

Infrastructure improvements will include the restoration of dirt and stone paths, the creation of an athletic trail, and a route for people with disabilities. Other planned features are electrical lighting, water management systems, a central entrance gate to control vehicle access, and an event space with stone amphitheater seating. Additionally, the project will include environmental education areas with interactive signs and a children’s bike playground.
