Mzouazia parents announce strike over school overcrowding and flood risks

Parents at the Mzouazia primary and nursery school have announced a strike for the upcoming school year starting August 24. The protest is driven by severe overcrowding and safety concerns, as the school is located in a flood zone.

According to parents, some classes previously exceeded 34 students per teacher. The school serves three villages—Mzouazia, Majimeouni, and Mbouanatsa—and currently lacks dedicated space for 59 kindergarten students. Parents have proposed solutions, such as converting playground areas into classrooms, but claim local authorities have not implemented concrete measures to address the demographic growth or the site's environmental risks.
