Na Hong-jin’s sci-fi film ‘Hope’ debuts after Cannes premiere

The South Korean science-fiction film ‘Hope’, written and directed by Na Hong-jin, has garnered attention following its competition premiere at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. The film follows a police chief, played by Hwang Jung-min, in a remote village as he investigates a mysterious creature causing destruction and death among the residents and livestock.

The production features an international cast including Hoyeon, Zo In-sung, Michael Fassbender, and Alicia Vikander. The film’s original score was composed by Michael Abels, known for his work on ‘Get Out’. The official soundtrack, released via Milan Records, consists of 30 pieces totaling approximately 80 minutes. While praised for its intense action sequences and cinematography, some critiques have noted a lack of deep character development.
