Nabdam District police arrest 14 for suspected narcotic cultivation

Fourteen individuals were arrested in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region following an intelligence-led operation on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The arrests took place at Daliga and were conducted by the Upper East Regional Police Command, involving the Police Intelligence Directorate and the Black Cobra Team.

Authorities discovered a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances, specifically Indian hemp, concealed in sacks. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were cultivating the drugs alongside millet and maize to hide the farms from law enforcement.

Police allege that the arrested group acted as major suppliers for various drug dealers operating throughout the Upper East Region. The suspects remain in custody and are expected to face court proceedings.
