Nabila Mounib rejects treason accusations amid defamation campaign

Nabila Mounib, a prominent leader of the Unified Socialist Party and candidate for the Anfa district in Casablanca, has rejected accusations of “treason” and “obstructing national interests.” These allegations followed a recent interview she gave to the Spanish outlet “El Español,” which critics claimed harmed Morocco’s national image. Mounib clarified that her comments were a responsible political analysis of domestic realities and did not compromise national sovereignty.

The Left Alliance, comprising the Unified Socialist Party and the Democratic Left Federation, issued a statement expressing solidarity with Mounib. The alliance condemned what it described as a “systematic campaign of defamation and incitement,” noting that the attacks include the use of AI-generated images and gender-based hate speech targeting her as a female political leader.

In a separate but related development regarding digital harassment, Amine El Maainine, a leader in the Justice and Development Party, announced her intention to take legal action against social media accounts and individuals she accuses of professional defamation and targeted attacks.
