NaCCA bans unapproved mock exams in Ghanaian schools

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has issued a directive to all pre-tertiary school heads in Ghana to immediately cease the use of unvetted assessment items and mock examination materials.

The order follows reports that various unapproved individuals, institutions, and consortiums have been developing and administering assessment materials in basic schools across the country. NaCCA, the statutory body mandated to approve assessment tasks for pre-tertiary education, emphasized that externally developed materials must undergo their vetting process to ensure they meet required standards and align with the approved national curriculum.

School authorities have been warned that failure to comply with this directive—specifically the procurement or administration of unapproved materials—could result in regulatory sanctions.
