Breast cancer awareness and medical advancements highlighted
Global health initiatives and medical advancements are highlighting the critical importance of breast cancer awareness and early detection. In Turkey, organizations like Siveno and the Türkiye Breast Cancer Foundation are promoting self-examination, while medical experts at the Breastanbul Congress discuss the benefits of robotic and endoscopic surgeries that allow for incisions as small as 3 cm.
Medical professionals emphasize that breast cancer does not always present as a lump; skin changes, such as redness, swelling, or an orange-peel texture, can also be indicators. Experts warn that while risk increases after age 40, younger women are also susceptible. In Montenegro, health officials are advocating for continuous preventive screenings to ensure women do not neglect their health due to family or work responsibilities.
Recent scientific breakthroughs have also emerged, including research by Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar involving glioblastoma treatments and new FDA-approved drugs for metastatic pancreatic cancer. Additionally, gene-editing technologies like CRISPR-Cas12a2 are showing promise in targeting HPV-carrying cells to prevent cancer development.
