Nader Mohammadi sets Russian football throw-in record

Iranian footballer Nader Mohammadi, playing for Spartak Kostroma, has set a new record for the longest throw-in in the top tiers of Russian football. During a match against Ufa in the Russian First League, Mohammadi utilized a unique technique involving a forward somersault to generate momentum.

According to data from the analytical platform RuStat, the ball was thrown a distance of 45.6 meters. The total flight path of the ball reached 51.6 meters, peaking at an altitude of 10.8 meters. This marks the longest recorded throw-in in the Russian Premier League and First League since RuStat began tracking the statistic in 2021.

While the technique is highly unusual, it is legal under IFAB Law 15, provided the player faces the field and has part of both feet on or outside the touchline. Mohammadi, who has a background in gymnastics, has recently gained viral attention for similar long-distance throws.
