Nadezhda Yordanova criticizes budget transparency and pardon controversy
Nadezhda Yordanova, leader of the Democratic Bulgaria parliamentary group, has criticized the government regarding the 2027 budget, citing a lack of transparency. She noted that key parameters, such as the minimum wage, maximum insurance income, and proposed tax changes, have not yet been presented to deputies. Yordanova also expressed concern over potential increases in waste management fees without corresponding service improvements.
Regarding the controversy surrounding the pardon of a drug dealer known as the ‘Petrich Escobar’, Yordanova clarified that the medical commission evaluating the prisoner's health is a permanent body established by the Minister of Justice in coordination with the Minister of Health. She emphasized that the commission's findings are not binding and that the final decision to grant a pardon rests solely with the President.
Additionally, Yordanova confirmed that ‘Da, Bulgaria’ and DSB will support the presidential candidates Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev. She also called for increased efforts in drug prevention and judicial action to combat narcotics distribution.
