Argentina and Mexico see protests over femicides and missing persons
In Argentina, relatives and activists in Córdoba held a march to demand justice for Agostina Vega, a 14-year-old girl murdered in May. Protesters marched to the local Legislature, calling for further investigations into potential accomplices, noting that while six people are detained, they believe more individuals may be responsible.
In Mexico, various groups are addressing the crisis of disappearances. In Tamaulipas, the Amor por los Desaparecidos collective placed search notices in border municipalities like Nuevo Laredo and Camargo to increase visibility for missing persons. Meanwhile, in Jalisco, families of four young men disappeared from a residence in Zapopan following an armed attack on September 14 have protested at Casa Jalisco, demanding answers from authorities. Additionally, activists in Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos are seeking information regarding two missing teenagers, Alondra Rubí Santos Estrada and Karina Guadalupe Castellanos Chavoya.
Furthermore, Mexican disappearance collectives have warned against the political exploitation of their struggle by candidates and officials ahead of the 2026-2027 electoral process, demanding that institutional support focus on actual search and identification results rather than political promotion.
