Romanian summer cultural festivals launch across the country in August 2026
A series of cultural festivals and events open across Romania in August 2026, offering music, film, theatre and workshops for diverse audiences. The Haferland Festival returns from 6‑9 August in ten Transylvanian Saxon villages, featuring performances, traditional crafts and a patronage appearance by Olympic gymnast Nadia Comăneci. The International Film Festival “Serile Filmului Românesc” runs in Iași from 5‑9 August, presenting films, concerts, theatre and a photographic exhibition on Comăneci’s historic Olympic score. TIFF Sibiu celebrates its 20th anniversary with open‑air screenings, filmmaker talks and a historic program from 30 July to 2 August. The Cinemascop Festival in Eforie Sud offers European films, workshops and a silent‑disco week from 14‑20 August. The International Jazz Festival in Miercurea‑Ciuc gathers artists from six countries for concerts, workshops and jam sessions between 14‑16 August. Summer Well returns to Buftea for its 15th edition, delivering three days of music and art from 3‑5 August. Rompetrol sponsors the Madrigal Choir’s summer tour in Constanța from 12‑16 August, combining choral concerts with dolphin shows. Additional workshops for children, such as synthesiser sessions at the Reduta Cultural Centre in Brașov and museum programmes in Brașov and Oradea, complement the nationwide cultural calendar.
