German international midfielder Nadiem Amiri announced that he will remain with FSV Mainz 05 for the coming season and beyond, with his contract running until the summer of 2028. Speaking at a club event in Tirol, Amiri said he had received numerous offers, including interest from RB Leipzig, but after discussion with his family he chose to stay, adding that he does not want to disappoint Mainz fans.
Amiri, 29, has been a key player for Mainz since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in January 2024, scoring 26 goals and providing 13 assists in 82 appearances. He has also earned 13 caps for the German national team. Earlier speculation about his future had been fueled by media reports of a possible move, but the midfielder emphasized his comfort at the club and his focus on the current season.
The announcement was made via a video released by Mainz and was met with standing ovations from supporters, confirming the club’s confidence in retaining one of its most valuable assets.
