Nadin Amizah releases third studio album ‘Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan’

Indonesian musician Nadin Amizah has released her third studio album, titled ‘Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan’, through her independent label, Sorai. The 11-track album uses the tragic story of Laika, the Soviet space dog sent on a one-way mission in 1957, as a central metaphor for grief, loneliness, and the absence of a father figure.

Amizah describes the work as an exploration of yearning and the pain of being left behind. The album features diverse musical collaborations with ten different producers. Some tracks are inspired by real-world observations, such as ‘Ditemukan Sebuah Bangkai’, which was prompted by news of an unidentified body found during the 2020 Jakarta floods.

Through this release, Amizah aims to express raw emotions, including anger and defiance, stemming from personal and social experiences of loss and the lack of a secure home or parental figure.
