NAF reports summer breakdown trends for EVs and ICE vehicles

Data from NAF Veihjelp indicates that flat batteries and starting problems are leading causes of roadside assistance calls during the summer, debunking the notion that battery issues are exclusive to winter.

While the primary reasons for vehicle recovery remain similar across fuel types, distinct differences exist between electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. EVs are overrepresented in puncture incidents, which NAF attributes to their heavier weight, frequent use of vulnerable low-profile tires, and higher frequency of urban driving where road debris is common. Conversely, ICE vehicles almost exclusively account for engine stalls due to the high number of moving parts in combustion engines.

Additionally, NAF identifies lost or locked car keys as a recurring seasonal phenomenon during summer holidays. Notably, running out of fuel or charge was not a primary driver for assistance calls.
