NAFCO reports record GH¢91.7m profit while seeking stronger liquidity

The National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) has reported a record profit before tax of GH¢91.7 million for 2025, marking a significant turnaround from a GH¢19.4 million loss in 2024. This represents the highest profit recorded by the company since its establishment 16 years ago.

Despite the financial gains, CEO George Abradu-Otoo stated that the company's liquidity buffer remains marginal. While the acid-test ratio improved from 1.07 in 2024 to 1.18 in 2025, the company is targeting a ratio above 1.5 to better manage short-term obligations and reduce risk.

Mr. Abradu-Otoo noted that working capital management remains a concern and called for attention from the government, as the majority shareholder, to ensure long-term financial sustainability. The company also saw its gross profit margin rise from 1.61 per cent to 13.96 per cent during this period.
