Nafpaktia Municipal Council approves DEYAN integration into EYDAP

The Nafpaktia Municipal Council has approved a proposal by Mayor Vasilis Gizas to integrate the Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Nafpaktia (DEYAN) into the larger EYDAP utility. This decision marks the beginning of a process intended to stabilize the local utility's finances and ensure reliable services.

DEYAN has faced significant financial challenges, with annual revenues of approximately €2 million being insufficient to cover rising operational costs. Specifically, electricity expenses rose from €605,000 in 2019 to an estimated €2 million by 2026. Combined with annual personnel costs of roughly €800,000, the company's expenses for electricity and staff alone are expected to exceed its total revenue.

Integration into EYDAP is expected to allow DEYAN to access at least €4.1 million in state subsidies to repay electricity debts. Under the new arrangement, EYDAP will manage the operation and maintenance of water and sewerage networks. Existing staff will be automatically transferred to EYDAP, and the company aims to maintain a local presence in Nafpaktia through a service and maintenance office.
