Nafpaktos archival exhibition to open in Greece

An archival exhibition titled ‘Nafpaktos: Siege and Liberation’ is scheduled to open on October 11, 2026, at the Dimitrios and Aiglis Botsaris Foundation. The event is co-organized by the General State Archives, the Municipality of Nafpaktia, and the Brotherhood of Nafpaktioi of Attica Prefecture ‘O Epaktos’.

The exhibition commemorates the 455th anniversary of the Battle of Nafpaktos and marks 197 years since the liberation of the city. It will feature maps, drawings, portraits, and archival documents detailing the siege, the strategic importance of the fortress, and the city's transition into the modern historical era.

The presentation holds particular significance as Nafpaktos is the birthplace of Ioannis Vlachogiannis, the founder and first Director of the General State Archives. The exhibition will run until December 31, 2026.
