Nafpaktos Bypass Tunnel Project Advances with New Feasibility Studies

The Greek government has moved the Nafpaktos city‑centre bypass, known as the “Tunnel of the Castle,” into a new phase after a programmatic cultural‑development agreement was signed by Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, Western Greece Governor Nektarios Farmakis, Mayor Vasilis Gkizas and the DEPAN network of cities.

The €2.2 million project, funded by the “Filodimos II” programme, will now undergo comprehensive technical and environmental studies required for tendering and construction. Mayor Gkizas said the bypass is a landmark project that will transform traffic, improve safety, protect the historic centre and enhance quality of life for residents and visitors.
