Nafplio hosts 7th Traditional Dance Festival

The 7th Traditional Dance Festival, organized by the Labor Center of Nafplio-Hermida, concluded successfully after a three-day event in Nafplio. The festival featured a wide array of cultural groups, including Vlachs, Arvanites, Suliotes, Pontians, Cypriots, Cretans, and others, showcasing diverse traditional costumes, dances, and songs.

During the opening, organizers and local authorities honored the participating delegations. The Vlach Association of Veroia participated, highlighting the historical role of Vlachs in the Greek struggle for independence and their contribution to the Greek state. The event included a symbolic ceremony involving an olive tree designated as the ‘Tree of Tradition.’

The festival drew significant crowds of both locals and tourists to the Nafplio harbor, concluding with a large-scale celebration on Sunday, August 9. The organizers credited the success of the event to the long-term efforts of the Labor Center and its president, Rafail Barou, in preserving folk heritage.
