Naftogaz Group reports serious damage after 13 Russian strikes in one week
Ukraine’s state energy company, Naftogaz Group, reported that Russian forces attacked its facilities 13 times over the past week. Since the beginning of the year, the company’s premises have been targeted nearly 300 times. These strikes, involving drones and missiles across several regions, have caused serious damage to equipment and production capacity, though no employees were reported injured.
Ukrainian officials expressed concern that Russia is “weaponizing winter” by targeting the power grid to deny civilians access to light, heating, and running water. This follows a pattern of intensified barrages; according to the United Nations, Russian strikes on urban targets like apartment blocks, schools, and hospitals have killed nearly 17,000 civilians.
In response to the ongoing conflict, both nations are expanding their aerial capabilities. Ukraine has increased its use of domestically produced long-range weapons, including a recent salvo of over 800 drones directed at Russia.
