Nag Hammadi school principals referred for investigation over low literacy

Mohamed Youssef El-Zaqim, the Director General of the Nag Hammadi Educational Administration in Qena Governorate, has referred the principals of six schools to legal affairs for urgent investigation. The decision follows field inspections that revealed a significant decline in students' basic reading and writing skills.

The investigation also includes first-grade supervisors and Arabic language teachers at the affected schools. The schools identified for investigation are Sherket El-Sokkar Primary, Al-Sawamea Primary, Saint George Primary, Saint George Preparatory, Al-Darb Primary, and Al-Mahatta Primary.

During field visits, officials conducted assessments by asking students to write and read content from blackboards and textbooks. The administration emphasized that improving literacy and academic achievement is a top priority and stated there will be no leniency regarding negligence that impacts student progress. These measures follow directives from Tarek Mohamed Saad El-Din, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Qena, to intensify field monitoring and address educational deficiencies immediately.
