Naga Babu appointed chairman of AP Green Executive Committee
Nagendra Rao Konidela, also known as Naga Babu, has been appointed as the chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Society for Greening and Reforestation for Ecological Enrichment (AP Green). The appointment, made via a government order on August 17, grants Naga Babu Cabinet rank status to facilitate the effective functioning of the society.
Naga Babu, a Member of the Legislative Council and general secretary of the Jana Sena Party, will lead the executive committee under the Environment and Forests Department, which is headed by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The primary objective of AP Green is to increase the combined forest and greenery cover in Andhra Pradesh to 50 per cent of the state’s total geographical area by the year 2047.
To support this mission, the government is establishing district-level governing bodies and converting existing Social Forestry Divisions into District Greening Development Agencies (DGDAs). Naga Babu will be responsible for coordinating between various departments, district-level agencies, and local bodies to accelerate the implementation of these environmental programs.
