Naga City hosts Harubay procession to begin Peñafrancia 2026
The 2026 Peñafrancia festivities commenced in Naga City with the Harubay motorcade procession on September 2. The event, themed ‘Harubay: A Pilgrimage of Hope, Faith, and Love’, marks the start of a month-long celebration dedicated to Our Lady of Peñafrancia and El Divino Rostro.
Religious organizations from various districts of the Archdiocese of Caceres participated in the motorcade, which transported sacred images from the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Minor Basilica through the city. The event concluded with a grand Eucharistic Celebration led by Archbishop Rex Andrew C. Alarcon.
In his homily, Archbishop Alarcon emphasized the importance of communal growth and the responsibility of the faithful to mentor new believers. The 2026 festivities also coincide with the 75th anniversary of the elevation of Caceres to an Archdiocese, focusing on the theme ‘Ina: Nurturing a Growing Church’ and encouraging active participation within the parish communities.
