Naga Hoho Search Committee calls for tribal reunification

The Naga Hoho Search Committee has issued an appeal to all Naga tribal Hohos and apex organizations to restructure and revitalize the Naga Hoho. The committee aims to transform the organization into an inclusive and representative platform for the Naga people, regardless of state, region, or administrative boundaries.

According to the committee, the institution has been weakened by internal conflicts, competing interests among tribes, and the dissociation of several constituent organizations. Notable groups that have remained outside the Naga Hoho in recent years include the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), the Central Nagaland Tribes Council, and the five Tenyimi tribes of Nagaland. This lack of participation has limited the organization's ability to speak collectively for the Naga people.

The Naga Hoho was originally established to create a Pan-Naga civil institution to defend political, economic, and socio-cultural rights, promote welfare, and facilitate a peaceful settlement to the Naga political problem. Following a Federal Assembly meeting in July 2026, the Executive Council was terminated, and a five-member Search Committee was formed to facilitate the nomination and election of new leadership.
