Naga peace talks to resume following apex committee finalization

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio announced that Naga peace talks will resume once a proposed apex committee is finalized to oversee negotiations. This follows a consultative meeting held in Chümoukedima between the Political Action Committee (PAC) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM).

The meeting addressed the ongoing delays in the political dialogue and discussed mechanisms to move negotiations forward. NSCN-IM representatives, including RH Raising and VS Atem, noted that the progress of a political solution depends on the Indian government's policymakers.

The consultation also addressed recent comments made by former Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. SC Jamir regarding the Naga political issue. NSCN-IM leaders dismissed Jamir’s authority to speak on the matter, characterizing him as someone not acting as an advocate for the Naga people.
