Naga Students’ Federation to host national seminar on BEFR in Dimapur

The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is hosting a two-day national seminar in Dimapur on August 28 and 29 to discuss the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) of 1873. Organized by the Federation’s Inner Line Regulation Commission, the event serves as a national-level policy consultation regarding the historical, legal, and administrative dimensions of the regulation.

The seminar aims to deepen awareness of the BEFR, strengthen its implementation, and formulate recommendations for the Nagaland government. Approximately 350 delegates are expected to attend, including members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, tribal hohos, civil society organizations, academics, and legal practitioners from Nagaland and across the Northeast.

Distinguished speakers include Supreme Court of India senior advocates Prashant Bhushan and Shomona Khanna, alongside academic experts and the Home Commissioner of Nagaland. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is scheduled to address the assembly on the second day of the program.
