Naga Tribes Council Rejects Manipur CM Visit, Opposes Minister‑Level Interlocutor Demand
The Working Committee of the Joint Tribes Council Manipur (WC‑JTCM) has publicly opposed Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh’s planned visit to the families of six slain Naga men and other displaced families in Kangpokpi district. The council said the visit would be an insult while justice remains pending, noting that the men were abducted on May 13, their dismembered remains were recovered on June 10, and no arrests have been made. It demanded that the government first deliver justice, stating “Justice first. Then everything else.”
Separately, the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs) condemned the Nagaland state government’s request for a Union Minister‑level interlocutor in the Indo‑Naga peace process, calling the demand “an insult to the Naga conscience” and a “grave crime” that undermines the agreements already reached with the Government of India. The group urged the state to respect the Framework Agreement and refrain from actions that could sabotage the peace negotiations.
