Naga Wrestling team travels to Kyrgyzstan for World Nomad Games

The Naga Wrestling team has departed for Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 6th World Nomad Games, held in Cholpon-Ata from August 29 to September 7. Led by Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) President Vivolie Kezo, the contingent includes male wrestlers Huluyi D Vadeo and Kuvenu Puro, and female wrestlers Vikehenuo Zumvü and Haizuyile Zeliang, supported by coaches and officials.

Naga Wrestling has been included as a demonstration sport for the Games. The team will showcase traditional wrestling styles and compete in belt wrestling within their respective weight categories. The NWA stated that this inclusion is a major step toward international recognition for the sport.

The association aims to further its reach by seeking inclusion as a medal event at the 2026 UWW World Wrestling Championship and the 2028 World Nomad Games. The NWA acknowledged financial support from the Nagaland government and various state officials to facilitate the team's participation.
