Nagaland and Odisha advance regional healthcare infrastructure

In Nagaland, Health and Family Welfare Minister P. Paiwang Konyak announced that the state government has submitted a proposal to the Government of India for the establishment of a new Greenfield AIIMS at Nagaki City in the Chümoukedima district. The proposed institution is expected to be built on approximately 200 acres of land.

Additionally, the minister highlighted efforts to achieve a TB-free Nagaland, noting that 214 villages have already been declared TB-free. The state is also working toward Universal Health Coverage and 100 per cent Ayushman card coverage through initiatives like the 100-Day Ayushman Student Coverage Mission.

In Odisha, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling reviewed healthcare infrastructure at SLN Medical College and Hospital in Koraput. The review focused on strengthening specialized treatment, improving maternal and child health, and reducing mortality rates in the tribal-dominated district. Mahaling discussed plans for super-specialty services and an advanced research centre.

During the visit, the minister also inaugurated a newly constructed critical care centre in Jeypore, built at a cost of Rs 22 crore, and emphasized the need for timely, accessible, and quality patient care.
