Nagaland defeats Meghalaya by 122 runs in Ranji Trophy

Nagaland secured a 122-run victory over Meghalaya in their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 plate group match. Despite half-centuries from Akash Kumar Choudhary and Akshay Karnewar, Meghalaya could not overcome the deficit.

The match was marked by significant administrative turmoil within the Meghalaya Cricket Association. Following a Meghalaya High Court order deeming a previous selection illegal, the team was replaced by a new squad chosen by the MCA President’s faction just one day before the match. This left the new players with minimal time to train together.

In the first innings, Nagaland posted 254, with Rongsen Jonathan scoring 69 and Nagaho Chishi scoring 68. Meghalaya responded with 144. In the second innings, Meghalaya was bowled out for 184, resulting in the loss. Akash Kumar Choudhary contributed 4/66 for Meghalaya, while Manish Sharma recorded 4/67 on his Ranji debut.
