Nagaland develops live entertainment framework to boost economy

The Nagaland government is developing a Live Entertainment Economy Framework to transform the state’s entertainment sector into a significant driver of economic growth, employment, and tourism.

During a meeting at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations in Kohima, Secretary Orenthung Lotha emphasized that live entertainment should be treated as a viable economic sector rather than just a means of cultural expression. The goal is to monetize large-scale events to generate sustainable revenue for local stakeholders and stimulate allied industries.

The state aims to leverage its rich cultural heritage, musical talent, and creative youth population to build a robust ecosystem. This initiative will require inter-departmental coordination to host major national and international events. The LiveNow team, led by Director Atsunglir Jamir, is assisting with the framework by providing research and observations on the sector's potential for skill development and entrepreneurship.
