Nagaland film ‘Angh’ to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival

Jungle Book Studio has acquired the international sales rights for ‘Angh’, the debut feature film by Nagaland filmmaker Theja Rio. The film is scheduled to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Set in the remote hills of Nagaland during the early 1960s, the story follows a Konyak chief and his son, the last members of their village who have not converted to Christianity. The narrative explores the conflict between faith and tradition, and modernity and memory, as the arrival of an American missionary disrupts their way of life.

Shot on 16mm, the production features indigenous actors alongside Douglas Henshall, an actor known for ‘Shetland’. The film is produced by Nancy Nisa Beso and Theja Rio through Winter Hymns Films and Undercover Squirrel, with Jungle Book Studio managing world sales.
