Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav calls for humanitarian and cultural strengthening
Nagaland Governor and President of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Nagaland State Branch, Nand Kishore Yadav, has advocated for a more robust humanitarian network to address the state's vulnerability to natural disasters. Speaking at a “Dinner With a Purpose” event in Kohima, Yadav highlighted the challenges posed by Nagaland's difficult terrain and scattered habitations, which increase the risk from landslides, floods, and fires.
To ensure timely assistance, the Governor emphasized the need to strengthen District Red Cross Branches through trained volunteer networks, better identification of local vulnerabilities, and improved coordination with district administrations. He also called for the reinforcement of the Humanitarian Corpus Fund and the Emergency Relief Fund to provide sustainable financial support and immediate relief materials to affected families.
In a separate address regarding the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, Governor Yadav promoted greater cultural exchange to strengthen national unity. During a celebration of the foundation days of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu, he noted that understanding and respecting cultural differences is essential to the country's social fabric. He encouraged young people to engage in travel and interaction to appreciate India's diverse heritage.
