Nagaland institutions observe World Mental Health Day
Educational and community institutions in Nagaland observed World Mental Health Day through various programs centered on the theme “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”
Nagaland University’s Kohima Campus held a week-long series of events from October 5 to 10, featuring creative competitions in photography, writing, and poster making to encourage dialogue and reduce stigma. During a commemorative program, university officials and faculty members discussed the importance of supportive environments and shared personal reflections on navigating psychological challenges to validate the lived experiences of others.
In Dimapur, North East Christian University (NECU) collaborated with Chavara Home Community Care Centre to host a program focused on mental health awareness and practical coping mechanisms. The event included sessions on “The Art of Coping” and “Healing in Practice,” emphasizing the necessity of emotional support and listening to those with mental health difficulties to foster meaningful change in care.
