Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along Calls for Responsible NGOs and Joint Flood Response with Assam

Nagaland’s Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, addressed the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) degree‑toppers felicitation program in Kohima, urging the creation of responsible NGOs and civil societies and emphasizing inclusive development across the state’s 17 Naga tribes and non‑Naga residents. He highlighted the need for collective long‑term goals and warned that division hampers progress.

Later, Amid heavy rains that caused landslides, damaged homes and collapsed bridges in both Nagaland and Assam’s Upper Assam districts, Along appealed for cooperation between the two neighbouring states. He urged officials to focus on relief for affected people rather than assigning blame for the floods, noting that both governments were coordinating closely. Along also reaffirmed Nagaland’s commitment to environmental conservation, afforestation and restricting commercial logging, aiming to build resilience against climate change.
