Nagaland observes 63rd Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day amid calls for political resolution

The 63rd Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day was observed as Nagaland Peace Day at Khensa, where leaders emphasized the need for a resolution through political dialogue, truth, and reconciliation. Dr. Villo Naleo of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council stated that the Naga political question cannot be resolved through military strength or economic packages alone, but requires political wisdom and active listening from the Government of India.

Simultaneously, the Concerned Naga Forum of Nagaland (CNFN) has raised concerns regarding the delays in settling the Naga political issue. The forum highlighted that prolonged uncertainty has negatively impacted the social and economic life of the state, citing issues such as multiple taxation and harassment by armed collectors. The CNFN also called for clarity on the status of previous agreements, including the 2015 Framework Agreement and the 2017 Agreed Position, noting that these were legally endorsed by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2020.
