Nagaland officials discuss road connectivity and project closures

The Nagaland Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) has clarified that the foreclosure of two road projects in the Noklak district was due to the discontinuation of the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) scheme by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. The department stated the projects—the Noklak to Thonoknyu road and the Jendang Saddle-Noklak-Pangsha Phase-II—were closed on an “as-is, where-is” basis to avoid duplication and allow remaining work to be transitioned to new central or state schemes, rather than due to land compensation disputes.

Separately, Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has called for improved road connectivity with Myanmar to enhance cross-border trade, tourism, and economic cooperation. During a visit to Meluri district, the Governor highlighted the region's strategic importance and its potential for inland waterways and power trade under the Government of India’s Act East Policy.
