Nagaland proposes mandatory online labour licence registration

The Nagaland Labour Department has proposed an executive order to make online registration and renewal mandatory for factories and establishments. This initiative covers both the Factories Act, 1948, and the Nagaland Shops and Establishments Act.

The proposed system aims to simplify administrative procedures and improve the ease of doing business in the state, aligning with the Government of India’s Ease of Doing Business reforms. The system will be integrated into the Labour Department’s official website via a single-window Management Information System (MIS) application.

Key features of the digital portal will include online application submissions, document uploads, and digital payments. Once processed, licences and renewals will be issued digitally and will feature QR-code verification for authenticity. The system is also expected to provide automated alerts for upcoming renewals.
