Nagaland seeks energy sector investment at North East Energy Summit

At the North East Energy Summit 2026 held in Chumoukedima, Nagaland officials called on private investors and industry leaders to convert existing commitments into active projects. The summit, themed “Northeast: India’s Energy Frontier,” focused on the region's potential in solar, hydropower, and transmission infrastructure.

Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye urged government departments, public sector enterprises, and financial institutions to identify priority investment opportunities and improve coordination with the industry. He emphasized the need for practical mechanisms to follow up on summit commitments and expressed hope that the North East Energy Summit Declaration would establish clear timelines and responsibilities.

Principal Secretary K. D. Vizo also addressed the summit, highlighting the importance of private-sector participation in strengthening the state's energy infrastructure. The government aims to ensure that energy development leads to improved public services, job creation, and a stronger economy, supporting the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
