Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission hosts skill development programme in Phek
The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) conducted a stakeholders’ sensitisation programme regarding the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY 2.0) in Phek on October 30. The initiative aims to transition from basic skill training to creating sustainable livelihoods for rural youth from low-income households.
During the event, Phek Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori addressed the rising unemployment rates in the state. He noted that many young people focus heavily on securing scarce government positions rather than pursuing private sector opportunities or government schemes. Nguori urged the youth to seek financial independence through skill acquisition and called on village councils, churches, and civil society organisations to help raise awareness about livelihood programmes.
The programme featured presentations on the benefits of DDU-GKY and the importance of education and skill acquisition for employment. Key officials in attendance included NSRLM Mission Director Moa Sangtam and Phek Project Director Zhoi Lohe.
