Nagaland women's groups advocate for political leadership and protection against violence
In Nagaland, women's organizations are focusing on political empowerment and social protection. The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Women Wing held a rally in Mokokchung to promote women's leadership and grassroots participation within the party. Speakers at the event, including various MLAs and advisors, emphasized the importance of unity and active involvement in public life to strengthen the organization.
Separately, in Dimapur, the Central Nagaland Women Association (CNWA) and the Nagaland Alliance for Children & Women Rights (NACWR) held a panel discussion calling for an end to gender-based violence. Participants urged churches, tribal bodies, and community leaders to move beyond public condemnation toward concrete action. Leaders emphasized the need for practical support mechanisms for survivors and cautioned against using religious concepts of forgiveness to shield perpetrators from accountability.
