Nagano startup to demonstrate P2P car-sharing service

TRILL., a startup originating from Shinshu University, will hold a demonstration event for its P2P car-sharing service, ‘OURCAR’, on September 10, 2026, at the Nagano City Hall West Plaza. The event aims to showcase a system where individuals and corporations can rent out their idle vehicles to others through a peer-to-peer model.

The service utilizes smart key boxes attached to vehicles to enable 24-hour unmanned reservations, unlocking, and returns via a smartphone app. This model allows for transportation services in areas that were previously difficult to serve due to profitability concerns, as the company does not need to own its own fleet.

This initiative is part of the ‘COMmmmONS’ project, a regional transportation digital transformation (DX) promotion project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Following a successful demonstration involving 100 corporate vehicles across Nagano, Ueda, Matsumoto, and Hara villages, the upcoming event will demonstrate the full user cycle—from app reservation to vehicle return—to encourage citizen participation in local public transport.
