Nagarote murder: Third suspect arrested in killing of married couple

Authorities in Nagarote have arrested Luis Carlos Zapata, the third suspect implicated in the murder of a married couple. The victims, identified as 31-year-old Franklin Yeri Lampin Sánchez and 32-year-old Yeymi Solórzano Corea, were found dead inside their vehicle on August 29 in the Peña Ventosa community.

Zapata joins Ernesto Agustín Cruz Baltodano and Luis Alexander Contreras Lampin in custody. A fourth suspect, Yimin Maycol Bravo Santana, remains at large. The Public Ministry has charged the detainees as co-authors of organized crime and aggravated murder.

According to the prosecution, the suspects lured the victims to the vicinity of the Nagarote municipal barrier on the night of August 28 before driving to Peña Ventosa and killing them with gunfire. Medical examiner reports determined the couple died from severe traumatic brain injuries caused by gunshot wounds. An initial hearing for Zapata and the other two detainees is scheduled for September 23.
