The court sentenced him to 3 years 10 months of imprisonment, noting the seriousness of the arson but also his remorse.

Separately, a male occupational therapist in Nagasaki Prefecture who had been accused of secretly filming women’s underwear was not prosecuted. Prosecutors issued a non‑prosecution decision, clearing the therapist of the voyeurism allegations.
